MessageHello Dru,

The following is the directory scam that I am aware of. And I'm also wondering, has AALL ever taken any steps to combat directory scam problems?

Ambus Registry, Inc. -- "American Business Registry." To read about the FTC investigation, go to http://www.ftc.gov/opa/2003/07/ambus.htm.

  Subject: directory scam?

I hate to bring this up, since it was recently discussed, but I recall a discussion of a Directory listing scam, and cannot recall the name of the directory or product that was discussed. I've received an overdue notice from Worldwide Directory Products for a small amount of money - $39.51. It has an account number on it and the SBC logo on it. Trouble is, I never received their first invoice and never ordered a product from them. I googled Worldwide Directory Products and got 0 hits. I could just call their 800 number, but if I recall the discussion correctly, some of the calls to the company turned ugly. Seems like a lot of trouble for a small amount of money, though, so this could be legit. If I hear from someone that this is not the company that was the subject of the scam discussion, I'll call them.

  Thank you,
