LAW-LIBers interested in legal news - on topics ranging from African law to the US Supreme Court - should check out The Paper Chase, JURIST's enhanced legal news weblog at:

http://jurist.law.pitt.edu/paperchase/

A staff of 30 University of Pittsburgh law student anchors and reporters - organized and aided by a faculty member who shall remain nameless... - continually combs the Internet every weekday looking for the latest legal stories worth thinking about, filtering them, summarizing them and adding value to them with the best online primary and secondary sources available.

Paper Chase starts its day just after midnight, with "This day at law", a look back at the new day in legal history. Then it's on to a quick survey of legal stories in that day's overseas press. Around 7 am ET we run a survey of stories appearing in the US law and business papers as the profession prepares for work. JURIST's anchors keep track of breaking legal stories from across the country and around the world as they come in from 9 am Eastern, passing the baton to each other through the day until 5 pm. Twenty-five beat reporters covering specific legal topics file their reports as the day goes on, continuing late into the evening with roundup coverage of the US Supreme Court, the federal courts, and legal news from as far afield as Middle East and Africa. Then the clock strikes midnight and the whole cycle starts again.

It's a fascinating guided tour of what's happening in the legal world, led by students who are literally learning something new every minute, and who are happy to share their information and research with others.

Please take a look at what they're doing and share this with friends and colleagues who might be interested.

If you have any questions, if you have any students at your law school who might like to get involved in this project, or if you'd like to have Paper Chase's legal news feed right on your own website (as the National Judicial College and the University of Cincinnati College of Law already do!), just let me know.

Thanks!

Bernard
