Substitute for CCH Federal Tax Reporter

PLEASE FORGIVE DUPLICATION (sent to law-lib and sccll)

We are looking for a lower price substitute for the CCH "Standard Federal
Tax Reporter." Our use of it is very low, but when one of our general
practitioners (the vast majority of our users) has a tax question s/he often
needs something in addition to the BNA Tax Management portfolios, which we
have and plan to keep for now.

Svengalis doesn't mention any cost saving tips associated with the SFTR, but
quite a few other sets are listed in his Taxation section of the Buyer's
Guide and one of them might just suit our needs. We have a relatively small
collection, about 1,000 titles (about 22,000 volumes) and most of the users
of our general tax materials are attorneys, with a smattering of CPA's or
other tax professionals. But our use of tax materials just doesn't justify
the high cost of the CCH set as well as its filing demands, which are
substantial. I can think of a lot of other things we could buy with the
money and that would be used much more than the CCH.

Have any of you found a tax set that has served as an acceptable substitute
for the CCH?

I'll summarize responses for both listserves.

Many thanks,
Laura
