Greetings all!
I am not one to hop on the complainin' wagon so consider this posting to be
a mere coincidence that it occurs on the same day as Bob's rant. Yesterday, I
got the 2004 general index pamphlets for American Jurisprudence2d. An
eye-popping $475 for them (they were $418 last year)! As an aside, for that
price, they should be hardbound so they don't flop all over my library shelves.
Back they go, West! There is no reason for these indexes to be 1) so expensive
and 2) produced as annual editions. The bound index volumes updated with pocket
parts worked just fine in the "good ole days." IMHO, the time has arrived where
West's marketers have reached the limit of publication churning and price
increases. With severe cuts to library budgets, the backlash isn't going to be
pretty and everyone (libraries, library patrons, attorneys, West) will suffer.
