Requests for proposal, California documents project

This message is being posted on behalf of the Metropolitan Cooperative
Library System (MCLS), Los Angeles, California.

MCLS has recently issued two Requests for Proposals (RFPs) concerning a new
project: California State Government Publications: Access and Preservation.
This project will, through conferencing and research, examine the current
status of the California state document depository program and produce a
study that will present models and recommend best practices for policies,
procedures and technologies on how California's depository program can be
improved and strengthened in the digital environment.

Preliminary research will be conducted and then examined in depth in the
course of an invitational conference to be held in spring 2004. The final
study will be issued in summer 2004.

Proposals are being solicited for a research consultant to design and
conduct the project study, and a planning consultant to organize and
facilitate the conference. Proposals are due by September 30, 2003.
