RE: OutofOffice Angst and Questions/Answers

we use Lotus Notes mail, and there is a way to set up OOO to
only reply to in-house messages, and not to any message
coming from outside. That works well for me.

If I may add my two cents worth, I think most of us do
unsubscribe when we leave town. But, we don't (or at least
I don't) when we're flying out the door at the last minute
to get to a Dr.'s appointment and still need to use our "out
of office reply" to let our organizations know that we're
gone for a few hours or the rest of the day. I agree it's
an annoyance, but really it only takes a second to hit the
delete key.

re: out of office replies: Nope. We've tried for years
to tell librarians to UNSUBSCRIBE before they leave
town, but .... To me though, it's a small price to pay
for the joy of being able to call on my fellow
librarians for their expertise. And isn't it nice that
they don't want to miss a single law-lib message even
though they are out of town (personally, though, I
      unsubscribe - there is a limit! :-)

re: My real gripe (mild): Yours is at least the 3rd
"thank you" message posted this week where the person
who posted the question neglected to post the ANSWER
for the rest of us to learn from. PLEASE, everyone,
don't just say thank you, if there is the slightest
chance that at least one other law-lib member might
like to know the answer to the question you posted.
Post the answer! Just because a couple people respond
to the list, doesn't mean the perfect answer didn't go
to you and you only. A lot of people are
Reply-All-shy. So strip out the personal data, but
      post the responses.

      Many thanks,

Thanks for all the helpful comments.

Is there a way to send a message to law-lib
without getting 25 out-of-office replies in
            return?
