RE: Martin Levinson flogs his own book

I've seen it with self-published and vanity press-published books, by
authors and their friends who have no clue how transparent their stratagems
are. Praeger is a real imprint of Greenwood Press, though, so I'm not sure
why they would have left the author to do his own book promotion without any
effective guidance.

Self promotion from authors take many forms but in this instance Carla, the
researcher, should have used a different email address than the one on the
author's web page - at http://www.martinlevinson.com/.
Is this a common practice?

Margaret McAleese

Dear Ms. McAleese:
I am a community resident and plan to use the library in September. I
believe
the book would be highly valuable to university students investigating the
drug problem.
Sincerely,
Carla Cohen

Dear Carla,
are you a student at Sydney University and, if so, what is the name of your
supervisor?

Dear Ms. McAleese:
I am doing research on the drug problem and several experts have recommended
a book to me titled "The Drug Problem: A New View Using the General
Semantics
Approach" by Martin H. Levinson (Praeger, 2002)--the book investigates drug
history, policy, the legalization issue, treatment, and prevention. (For
your
information, the book has been reviewed in the Winter issue of the journal
ETC).
I would like to suggest that the library purchase this book for its
collections.
Sincerely,
Carla Cohen
