NOTICE TO USERS OF THE LAW LIBRARY OF CONGRESS READING ROOM
Effective Monday, August 4, 2003, the Library of Congress is requiring
persons to store most personal belongings in the Madison Building
cloakroom (room no. LM-140; located adjacent to the Reader Registration
Station) before entering the Law Library Reading Room.
Items the Library of Congress is not allowing in the Law Library
Reading Room include:
* Any bag or other container capable of concealing a book measuring
9.5" x 6.25." This includes, but is not limited to, briefcases,
luggage, portfolios, handbags, backpacks, knapsacks, duffel bags,
shopping bags, canvas bags, other bags, cases for equipment, boxes and
other containers.
* Computer scanners larger than hand-held
* Photocopiers larger than hand-held
* Computers larger than laptop size
* Food, drink, and their containers
* Outerwear (e.g., raincoats, overcoats)
* Umbrellas
* Scissors or other cutting implements
* Newspapers
* Radios, televisions, compact disc players, audio cassette players,
cellular or portable telephones, and other audio devices
