ASSOCIATE DIRECTOR/HEAD OF PUBLIC SERVICES
Loyola University Chicago Law Library is seeking an energetic, innovative individual to serve as Associate Director/Head of Public Services. The Associate Director is responsible for the day to day operation of the law library, and oversees the reference and circulation departments. The Associate Director coordinates all teaching activities of the law library including the first year legal research course, and takes an active role in teaching and reference service. The Associate Director works with the Director in budget planning, staff decisions, and all other aspects of library management.
The Loyola University Chicago Law School is located on Chicago's famous Magnificent Mile. Museums, shopping, restaurants and Lake Michigan are all within a few blocks. The Loyola Law Library has a collection of over 300,000 volumes. There is a staff of 8.5 professional librarians and 6.5 support staff. The Law Library serves as the legal resource to the University. The approximately 850 law students and 40 paralegal students along with 35 FT faculty and 50 adjuncts are the primary users. The Law School has graduate law programs in health care, child advocacy, antitrust, tax and business law.
QUALIFICATIONS: M.L.S. from an ALA accredited institution. J.D. from an ABA accredited institution. A minimum of 5 years of experience in academic law libraries, with increasing responsibility. Thorough knowledge of print and electronic sources of legal information. Excellent communication skills.
SALARY: Depending upon qualifications and experience.
