A Joint Message to AALL from Aspen Publishers and CCH INCORPORATED
As many of you know, Aspen Publishers and CCH INCORPORATED along with the
companies of CCH Tax Compliance, Bankers Systems Inc. and Legal Information
Services comprise a division of Wolters Kluwer known as Legal, Tax and
Business North America (LTB NA). Wolters Kluwer announced on Tuesday, March
11, 2003, for the first time a shared vision and strategy for the LTB NA
companies. Our goal is to better serve our customers by offering
comprehensive, integrated compliance, research and productivity solutions for
professionals in tax and accounting, legal research, corporate legal services
and financial compliance.
In order to accomplish our new vision we will, over time, organize around key
customer areas. Over the next several years, we will transition to four
customer aligned business units based on our core customer groups in tax and
accounting, legal research, corporate legal services and financial
institutions. The plan is a natural progression of how our companies are
working today to better serve customers through joint product development
efforts and leveraging best practices across our companies.
We're confident that the benefit to our customers will be tremendous. Our
plan will provide us with greater understanding of customer needs and will
allow us to take a more coordinated approach to serving our customers, making
it easier for you to do business with WK LTB NA companies. It will give us
the ability to deliver the integrated products our customers are requesting.
And, it will allow us to further concentrate on those areas of the market
where we already are leaders.
The strategy is a general direction, not a detailed roadmap, and none of
these plans have an immediate impact on you today. Still, we wanted to
provide you, one of our most important customer constituencies, with notice
of this exciting direction for WK LTB NA companies. Changes will be initiated
in 2004 and going forward we will strive to keep you fully informed of new
developments.
Be assured that this is a multi-year strategy that will proceed in a planned
and deliberate way to ensure that our customers - today and in the future -
continue to receive premium content and services from WK LTB NA companies.
Our employees are excited about this direction. We have a unified vision of
our future and we are focused on being the most customer-focused business in
