I heard a radio interview on the program Democracy Now with the son of the attorney who was arrested. Stephen and Roger Downs purchased their T-shirts at the mall (at a shop that allows one to print customized messages) and then went to the food court.
While at the food court they were approached by the mall security staff and told to remove the T-shirts or leave. They were informed that a person at Macy's saw the T-shirts and found them offensive. The son agreed, the father, a dangerous 61-year-old
who is the chief attorney for the New York State Commission on Judicial Conduct, refused to remove the offensive garment emblazoned with the inflammatory slogans: "Peace on Earth" and "Give Peace a Chance." (I apologize if I have offended anyone).
The mall called police and Stephen Downs was handcuffed and arrested. On Wednesday, 150 protesters went to the mall wearing similar T-shirts. They demanded to meet with the the director of mall security who locked himself in his office and refused to
come out. Shortly thereafter the mall asked police to withdraw the complaint against the insubordinate peacenik.
