What's Going on in Library Schools?
Have you thought about library school since you graduated? Take some
time to evaluate, reflect, and share your thoughts on the state of
library schools today.
Discussion topics will include the goals of library schools and what
valuable information you did not learn while in school but you think
could be added to current curricula. You'll have an opportunity to
compare programs, talk about your experiences, and provide possible
solutions to enrich today's library school programs. And, many schools
have been in danger, or are in danger, of closing. How will future
library science programs be affected? Additional discussion questions
may include: What did you enjoy about your classes? What are guidelines
to consider for selecting a great school? How can library schools
improve their programs? What library school would you recommend and why?
What was your favorite research project? If you were working in a law
library while going to school, were you able to focus projects to meet
the needs of your employer? Did the school you attend or are attending
have interdisciplinary views? Do you/did you prefer traditional
classroom settings or the virtual classrooms online? Are there drawbacks
to distance education with a library curriculum?
