First Search also has World Cat- a great resource for ILL. World Cat
is the database of OCLC records that include library holdings, so you
can use it to find a library that has a specific item. I am in a
private law library, but we get access to First Search at no additional
cost through a library consortium we joined. So worth checking into if
there is a library consortium in your area

Books in Print is a much more sophisticated way to find titles than
Amazon. I am currently using it frequently via OCLC Firstsearch for a
reference class. (yes I am in library school)
It allows you to conduct advanced searches using a large number of
criteria, including LC headings.
You can mark items to create a bibliography which can be e-mailed or
printed.
You can select "more like this" to refine searches and use Boolean
operators.
The full text reviews were mentioned before. They come from several
sources such as Library Journal and Booklist.
The most frustrating aspect of searching Amazon is the huge number of
irrelevant titles returned when your author has a common name or the
book has a common title.
Although we didn't use BIP when I worked in a law firm library, there
were times when it would have been useful and it is available via
Dialog.
