I've noted information about La Verne that Don gave me.

> From President Steve Morgan of the University of La Verne:
>>
>>"I am pleased to announce Donald J. Dunn has been appointed Dean of the

>>Information Resources and Professor of Law at Western New England College

>>years at Western New England College of Law and has significant
>>experience consulting with law schools applying for American Bar
>>Association approval. He has served as a member of more than 40 ABA site
>>evaluation teams.
>>
>>In an interview with the press, Dick McDowell said, "Don's experience as
>>a law school administrator and background as a consultant and ABA site
>>team evaluator make him highly qualified to lead the College of Law as we
>>prepare for the rigorous ABA approval review process later this year. His
>>insight as a recent member of the Law School Admissions Council also
>>gives us an edge in the highly competitive law school admissions environment."
>>
>>Don has held positions at the University of Texas at Austin and Tarlton

>>assuming official duties on June 1, 2003. We will plan a welcome
>>reception for him after his arrival."

>>Don shared with me the following information about the University of La
>>Verne and its College of Law. I thought you might find it of interest. Roy
>>
>>
>>The University of La Verne was founded in 1891 as Lordsburg College by
>>members of the Church of the Brethren who moved west from the Midwest to
>>settle a new land. Both the College and the agricultural community were
>>renamed La Verne in 1917, and the 1920s and 1930s found three-quarters of
>>the student body in teacher education. The next three decades saw campus
>>facilities multiply fourfold, the Board of Trustees become independent of
>>church control, and the student body increase and become more
>>cosmopolitan without the College losing its commitment to service or its
>>dedication to sound, people-centered, values-oriented education. In 1955
>>the College was accredited by the Western College Association. A decade
>>later it awarded its first master's degree, and in 1979 it conferred its
>>first doctorate.
>>
>>The main campus of the University of La Verne is approximately 35 miles
>>east of downtown Los Angeles in La Verne (pop. 35,000). La Verne is
>>located near the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains in a large
>>geographic area known as the Inland Empire. The Inland Empire consists of
>>several counties with a combined population of over three million and no
>>law school other than the Univ. of La Verne's College of Law. The
>>University of La Verne is a comprehensive university offering bachelor's,
>>master's, and doctoral degrees to over 7,000 students, 2,600 of whom are
>>undergraduates. It consists of the College of Arts and Sciences, the
>>School of Business and Global Studies, the School of Education and
>>Organizational Leadership, the College of Law, the School of Public
>>Affairs and Health Administration, and the School of Continuing
>>Education. The University has eleven satellite campuses that serve
>>students across southern California, as well as in Athens, Greece and two
>>sites in Alaska.
>>
>>The College of Law, which was founded in 1969, is in Ontario, California,
>>about 10 miles from La Verne and very near Claremont and Pomona. The
>>College of Law is accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners for the
>>State of California. The law school currently enrolls about 180 students
>>with a planned cap of around 400. It has 15 full-time faculty members and
>>a library that already exceeds 200,000 volumes. Its new facility is
>>beautiful and state-of-the-art.
