JOB ANNOUNCEMENT AND ADVERTISEMENT

The Barry University Dwayne O. Andreas School of Law Library needs a
dynamic person to lead public services. If the right person applies we may
up the ante and appoint the individual as Associate Director to help manage
overall day-to-day operations of the library as well.

Current public service librarians manage traditional circulation,
reference, and outreach functions, and they participate in collection
development. Candidates should embrace technology and should want to
continue to lead the staff of this young law library into the future. The
Public services staff currently includes two full-time and two part-time
reference librarians, three full-time circulation assistants and an army of
student assistants.

Minimum requirements include an ALA accredited Master's degree in
Library Science, an ABA accredited law degree and three years of reference
experience. In addition, the successful candidate will be a team player with
enthusiasm, energy, and a positive attitude. A knack for juggling
priorities, communication and management skills and a sense of humor will
separate the finest candidates. The position is tenure track on the law
library faculty.

The Law Library houses a young collection of over one hundred fifty
thousand volumes nurtured by sixteen staff members, including six with
library degrees and three with law degrees. Because the Library is
responsible for law school administrative and instructional computing,
candidates interested in furthering a seamless union between technology and
information delivery are strongly encouraged to apply. Salary and benefits
are commensurate with experience.

Located in Orlando, Florida, and provisionally accredited by the
American Bar Association in 2002, the Dwayne O. Andreas School of law at
Barry University is poised for dramatic growth. Enrollment is up, and so is
our need for librarians interested in joining a dedicated group of
professionals. This is a terrific opportunity for great person to join great
colleagues in a great environment to produce great things.

Application reviews will begin immediately. The start date is
negotiable but we anticipate it to be during Spring or early Summer 2003.

Interested candidates should send a cover letter, vitae, and the
names and contact information for three references, to:
