Archivist
Georgetown Law Library

Georgetown Law Library seeks an archivist to manage the archives of
Georgetown Law Center. As part of our Special Collections Department,
the archivist will maintain and sustain the Law Center Archives and
answer the research needs of the University for the Law Center's legal
and historical records. She or he will be responsible for processing all
archival materials and manuscript collections, identifying documents and
records that need to be retained, creating retention and disposition
schedules, maintaining the Law Center Archives web site, and supporting
the historical research needs of Georgetown University and other
scholars.

The Law Center Archives contain over 3,000 linear feet of formal legal
records, published and electronic materials, images, video and audio,
posters and historical materials dating back to 1870. It also includes
several manuscript collections, from the papers of Judge John Sirica and
historical materials related to the drafting of the ERISA statutes, to
the manuscript books of Lord Chancellor Eldon and handwritten copies of
17th century English reports.

Required Qualifications: BA or BS; MLS with a concentration in Archives,
or a certificate of Archival Science or equivalent from a certified
archival program, or a Master of Arts in American History with a
concentration on archival science; candidates who are within 1 year of
graduation may also qualify and are encouraged to apply.

Preferred Qualifications: Internet, web and image scanning experience
(knowledge of HTML, web-based tools, DreamWeaver, PhotoShop, etc.);
Ability to use and understand Microsoft Office software, specifically
Access 2000; 1 year experience in an academic archives or a law school
archives.
