Cross-posted; apologies for any duplication.

Greetings:

The AALL Washington Affairs Office and the AALL Government Documents
Special Interest Section's (AALL GD-SIS) Fugitive & Electronic-Only
Documents Committee are pleased to announce the availability on the
Federal Judiciary's Website of a portion of the "Guide to Judiciary
Policies and Procedures": "Volume II: Codes of Conduct, June 5, 1999
(revised through Transmittal 18, November 7, 2001),"
http://www.uscourts.gov/guide/vol2/ . This site's appearance marks the
first time that the current, electronic version of the "Guide" has been
made publicly available.

Librarians should note that the public version may be incomplete.
According to the Sep. 2002 agency announcement of the site, the intranet
of the Federal Judiciary, which is not accessible to the public, "contains
the complete contents of Volume II of the Guide, including materials that
are not available to the general public and therefore are not on the
public Internet site."

For providing free public access to this valuable source of information
about the federal judiciary, we wish to express our gratitude to the
Judicial Conference of the United States and the Administrative Office of
the United States Courts, and particularly to Michael Burke of the Office
of Internal Services and Marilyn Holmes of the Office of General Counsel.
We also wish to thank Robert L. Oakley, AALL Washington Affairs
Representative; S. Blair Kauffman, Law Librarian and Professor of Law at
Yale Law School; Charlene Cain of the Depository Library Council; and A.
Hays Butler and Scott Matheson of AALL GD-SIS; for their efforts to
increase public access to the "Guide."

Sincerely,

Mary Alice Baish, AALL Associate Washington Affairs Representative

Rob Richards, Coordinator, AALL GD-SIS Fugitive & Electronic-Only
Documents Committee
