Hi, John!!! Hope you're having a great week. In regard to your inquiry for a
one-volume work on legal history, I can recommend a couple of old but really
good books. In 1976, in honor of the American bi-centennial, West published a
commemorative book called Milestones: 200 years of American Law, or something to
that effect, by Lieberman. It's a great book, and guess what? *It has
pictures!!!*. Also a book on Constitutional history which was excellent was
"The American Constitution" by Kelly and Harbison. I'm afraid I don't know the
publisher, and whether it's still being published, but it might be worth a shot
to check on it. I remember getting both of those books when I was in law school
in the 1970's. Hope this helps. Jim Sherman, Librarian, National University,
Fresno Campus
