Many thanks to all of you who took the time to respond to my question
regarding vendors that will supply personal credit reports.
Although several people suggested ChoicePoint, and we do have a
contract with them, a call to their sales department was fruitless.
First of all, their voice mail system is irritating. When I finally
reached a real person, he simply said that they did not provide credit
information. A second call was slightly more helpful The
representative told me that they owned Equifax and that is the company
that I would need to deal with in order to obtain these reports.
One person told me that they used TransUnion but another told me that
the reporting requirements for this company were so stringent that they
decided to go with Equifax. Based on this comment, I didn't call
TransUnion...I have enough paperwork!
I did call Equifax and the person who answered the phone was polite,
knowledgeable, and emailed me the "Application for Services" while I was
speaking to him! The form is pretty daunting (it is LONG) but not
impossible. However, as I mentioned, they charge $300.00 just to sign
up and an additional $25.00/mo. whether one requests a report or not!
It just frosts me to pay that kind of money for these so I am going to
suggest that we live without this access. I doubt that this is the end
of this saga...
Thanks, again, for all of your suggestions.
