report), Morningstar, Yahoo!Finance and Hoover's Online.

The Thomas Register (www.thomasregister.com) might be helpful for finding
out the products of American manufacturers. If you know a brand name, a book
called Brands and Their Companies (along with its sibling publication,
Companies and Their Brands) might be helpful.

hoovers has some market share data. A few other sources, too.
The problem is that the market share is typically based on employee size
versus total employees in the industry (based on primary SIC) so its not a
reliable number.
D&B file 515 in dialog is a great place for general company info.
