Subject: [Sccll-sis] Statistics
I am writing a paper for a class in current trends that effect fundraising,
one of which is demographics.
I am looking for any information or reports on the trend toward attorneys
moving out of the urban core. The courthouse no longer is the central locus
holding attorneys and firms in the city.
We are seeing this in Kansas City and don't know if it exists elsewhere.
I have contacted both our metropolitan bar association (which agrees with
this observation) and the state bar association. Neither collects such
data. My next step is to contact our economic development commission.
I also have Rosalie Sanderson's "Taking Action to Make Libraries Relevant to
Today's Law Students," which alludes to demographic trends among younger
attorneys and their comfort with the electronic research environment. There
is a new sense of place driving location-it seems to be driven by
convenience and creature comforts.
Any reports or statistics would be appreciated. Please reply off the list.
Thank you.
