Hi all! This is the text of a mass message I got from a friend I made
at the 2000 NCSC Court Librarian seminar (he gave me permission to
re-send it to law-lib). I haven't seen any literature on this seminar
this year, so I don't know how many of you are aware of this program,
but I strongly encourage you to consider attending if at all possible.
The program is wonderful, and it changes each year, so if you attended
in the past, you might want to go again. I know it says "Court"
librarian, but the information is just as applicable in other kinds of
libraries. And Williamsburg is a wonderful place to visit, good
walking, sights, attractions, shopping (get all your holiday shopping
done!), and absolutely incredible food.
Well, you can read all about it from Gary's message, and check it all
out at the link he has provided. Time is of the essence, but librarians
are known for being able to act quickly as the need arises. Believe me,
if it weren't for law school, I'd be reserving my spot. Gail Warren is
teaching again this year, and I'd go a lot farther than Williamsburg to
learn from her.
Happy trails,

> Greetings to my November 2000 NCSC classmates!
>
> I hope you are all well and that the past two years have been kind to you. I'm writing partly to keep in touch and partly to seek your
> participation in the upcoming NCSC Court Librarian seminar, to be held in Williamsburg on November 7-9. As you probably know,
> the course content evolves from year to year, so this may be a good time for a revisit.
>
> I registered for the course, but I've just been told by Peggy Rogers that enrollment is down and the class may be cancelled, unless
> a couple more people express their interest by tomorrow. The venue looks very pleasant this year; it's at the Williamsburg
> Woodlands and it's only $59 per night! (That's cheaper than staying at home.) Moreover, Westgroup has stepped in to subsidize the
> tuition by $200 per person, so it's only $475, instead of $675. You can view the whole conference description and see a picture of
> the hotel at http://www.ncsconline.org/d_icm/icmcourses_clm47.html.
>
> If you are interested in enrolling (or know someone else who might be), please contact Peggy Rogers at 800-616-6164, or Valerie
> Hansford at 800-616-6206 or 757-259-1571 immediately. Because of the short deadline, it's important that we convey our interest in
> this class to NCSC/ICM straightaway, lest they be forced to pull the plug tomorrow. Please call if you are at all interested in the
> survival of the course.
>
> Thanks so much. I look forward to seeing you at some law librarian event soon.
