Subject: REFQ: Need to search California Probate filings

Hello members
A client has asked how one would go about searching for open petitions for
probate in California. It seems that a relative passed away in 1992, and
my client wants to verify if any petitions for probate have been filed.
As I am a complete stranger to legal research for California, could
someone suggest which resources should be accessed. Please include free
and commercial resources. BTW, the relative lived in the Los Angleles
area, but he is not sure in which town or county.
