Subject: Re: West / Lexis: Discrepancy in case law language

On Sept.20, I posted information about a situation in which the language of
an opinion from the Ms. Supreme Court differed between the West version and
the Lexis version.

The case in question was: "Boardman v. United Services Automobile
Association" (470 So.2d 1024; 1985 Lexis 2095). According to the Clerk of
the Supreme Court of the State of Mississippi, their review indicates that
the version online with LEXIS matches their original opinion and is correct.
The docket of the Court does not indicate that there were editorial
corrections made to the original opinion. Apparently, West editors simply
took it upon themselves to alter the language of the court.
