Citation puzzle solved

Thanks to the many people who responded to my question about finding the
equity rules that appear in 42 U.S. (1 Howard).

First, let me apologize for blowing the Roman numbering. Even with my new
bifocals I didn't see that what I thought was a capital "I" was in fact a
lower case L. Mea culpa.

It turns out that the rules were published in the first edition of the US
reports but left out of at least some later editions. Our shelf copy is from
1883 and does not have them. I found a first edition of 42 U.S. in our rare
book collection, and it does indeed have the rules, so I and my user are
happy. Live and learn.

Thanks again to everyone who responded.
