Amer. Lawyer Media Newspapers

Good morning!

Here in Connecticut, the state's only legal newspaper is the Connecticut Law
Tribune, which is owned and published by American Lawyer Media. Recently,
the CLT began to require that firms purchase 1 copy of the Tribune for every
3 attorneys in the firm, regardless of the actual number of attorneys who
read the newspaper.

The Tribune claims that the 3:1 ratio has been their long-standing policy,
though they have never tried to enforce this policy in the 5 years that I
have been in Connecticut. I suspect that this policy was created at the top
by American Lawyer Media and not the Tribune itself, but I'm not positive.

I'd like to know about the subscription policies of other Am. Lawyer Media
newspapers from the librarians who subscribe to them. If you receive any of
the following papers, I would appreciate it if you could tell me whether you
must deal with a similar 3:1 ratio, or if you are allowed to determine the
number of papers that your firm needs. Please respond to me directly at
sscoville@pepehazard.com. I would be happy to summarize the responses for
anyone who is interested.

The other American Lawyer Media newspapers are: The Legal Intelligencer
(PA), Legal Times (DC), Pennsylvania Law Weekly, Texas Lawyer, The New
Jersey Law Journal, The New York Law Journal, The Recorder (CA?), and The
Western Massachusetts Law Tribune.

Thanks in advance!
