ABA Statistics Question

We would like to include the microfiche in our ABA statitstics on total
linear feet of shelving space. Since fiche is housed in drawers in our
compact shelving units, we are wondering how to measure occupied and
unoccupied space that would be equivalent to shelving space. Has any
other library confronted this question and come up with an answer?
