Hello! Please excuse the cross-postings.
On the behalf of AALL's Committee on Diversity, I would like to remind
everyone who will be in Orlando on July 20th to make every effort to attend
the Diversity Symposium. This year's topic is especially timely: Creating
Connections: Towards an Understanding of Islam and Contemporary Muslim
Societies with Dr. Ali Asani, Professor of Indo-Muslim Languages and
Cultures at Harvard University. A group discussion will follow. If you have
not pre-registered for the Diversity Symposium, you still have a chance.
Simply send me an email and I will add your name to my list.. I would also
like to hear from those of you who are signed up as I won't get an officinal
head count from Convention Data Services until early July. Incidentally,
Dr. Asani has recently published an article on pluralism which has attracted
interest in the White House. The citation is as follows:
Ali S. Arsani, On Pluralism, Intolerance, and the Quran THE AMERICAN
SCHOLAR, volume 71, no. 1 (winter 2002), pp. 52-60. Be sure to join us for
a very stimulating afternoon.
Anne
