Sibyl, I don't mean to offend you. But, the first I would tell the young
man is to visit the firm's library staff. Courtlink can be searched
directly if one has a subscription. Westlaw also has a database called
Lawsuits (docket information from 44 States). Although, it's not
sophisticated as Courtlink, it will give you the basic information.

Subject: state ct docket research?
I have to confess at the outset that as an academic librarian at a
state university in a poor state, I have virtually no exposure to paid
legal research databases outside of LEXIS and Westlaw. So
please forgive me if I am asking something outrageously obvious.
One of my students is at his summer job, and asked me for help in
locating searchable court dockets for Alabama and Mississippi.
Apparently he's at a big firm and can pay for the service. As far as
I can tell, these dockets are not available on LEXIS or Westlaw. If I
am reading it right, you can pay someone to search Alabama
dockets for you via Courtlink, but cannot search them yourself. I
can't find any other way to search Alabama dockets, or any way at
all for Mississippi. Does anyone out there know of any
services/databases that I did not find?
Thanks!
