The Closing Banquet at the AALL Annual Meeting in Orlando will be, in part,
a celebration of Roger Parent's years as Executive Director. As you know,
Roger is retiring as of December 31, 2002. He has been a great contributor
to AALL's progress during his tenure, and his steady hand has guided a
series of Executive Boards through a wide range of projects that have
benefitted the Association in many ways. We have a few special events
planned for the evening, which we hope remain a surprise to Roger until
that evening.
We'd like to encourage as many members as possible to attend the Closing
Banquet. To add to the celebratory atmosphere we'd like to invite you to
dress in festive attire, with bright colors and tropical print shirts the
order of the evening. In addition, we would like to give all Association
members the opportunity to contribute a letter, a photo, or other item to
be incorporated into a memory album for Roger. If you would like to
contribute to the album, please leave your submission in Sally Holterhoff's
message folder in the Headquarters Staff Office in the Convention Center.
We know that not all AALL members are subscribed to law-lib, so we ask your
help in spreading the word of this special Closing Banquet event to those
who may miss this posting. We understand how hard it will be to keep the
news from Roger, but we're asking your cooperation in not being the one to
"spill the beans" to him! We look forward to seeing you in Orlando, and
especially anticipate your presence at the Closing Banquet as we celebrate
Roger Parent's years of service to AALL.
