If you are being billed on a per search basis on LEXIS orWestlaw, batch your searches by stringing them together with "ors". For example, if looking for articles on several people, just put their names in parentheses, and "or" the multiple requests as one..

I am especially interested in unusual cost saving techniques that you may employ when searching. Eg. Searching for a case name on the Internet. Once the case name and the citation are located, the citation can be input into LEXIS, Westlaw or LoisLaw, etc.. to obtain the full text of the case for free or at a reduced price. The examples do not have to be LEXIS or Westlaw related.

> 3. When using Westlaw.com or LEXIS.com, use the print button from the browser to obtain free printing.
> 4. Print a list of cases in the citation format and then read them using the books.
> 5. When reading cases online, make sure you are billed on a per search basis.

> 7. Keep a record of your searches for future use by printing out the "history" or the "trail". The LEXIS history is available until 2am (searches accessed before 2 am are free). Set your Westlaw password to time out after 90 minutes so that you can access the searches from your trail throughout the day. 6. Always call the reference attorneys!
