Oh yes, The wonders of L-Space and the fantastic Librarian of the Unseen
University.
I love Terry Pratchett all the more for them!

Subject: RE: Another librarian in the media
Anyone familiar with Terry Pratchett's Discworld series? The librarian for
Unseen University (a college for magicians) is an orangutan - he used to be
human but was accidentally changed in a magical mishap and refuses to change
back because he's so much better at his job as an ape - imagine being able
to re-shelve with both hands AND both feet. He's also easily one of the most
intelligent, capable and sensible characters in the entire series. And he
doesn't wear glasses or his hair in a bun, he does frequent low class
saloons, and never, NEVER refer to him as a monkey, unless you want to find
out exactly how strong an angry orangutan is.
Pratchett also posits the interesting notion that all libraries are
interconnected on a magical/interdimensional level, and if you are a truly
gifted librarian you can wander through the stacks to any one of them. But
be careful - libraries and books are dangerous!
