Re: IndexMaster Currency (or Lack Thereof)

I would also like to point out that Indexmaster often helps me to narrow
down which Matthew Bender treatise has information, so that I can then
access the specific title on Lexis electronically. It seems to me that
using book sales alone is a very narrow measure of usefulness. This
online access also provides revenue, does it not?

One of our librarians learned that the table of contents and index of a
title available through IndexMaster aren't up-to-date. I questioned
IndexMaster about it, and the reply I received was cause for some concern.

Some of the publishers get updates to IndexMaster fairly quickly. However,
others do not. "Lexis/Matthew Bender" was specifically mentioned, and the
reason given is that the company doesn't see enough sales generated through
IndexMaster to make it worth the resources. I was told that IndexMaster's
Mike Mingo has tried to convince Bender of the value the IndexMaster
service
provides to the subscribers as well as to the publishers.

I forwarded my message from IndexMaster to our LexisNexis account manager,
with the request that he forward it and our concerns to the appropriate
person(s). If you're also subscribing to IndexMaster, or are contemplating
a subscription, and share our concerns, please join me in urging Bender to
reconsider their position on this matter.
