Brian -
After experimenting a bit, I believe the reason you had these results
was because SurfWax doesn't automatically truncate a term. So in order
to find everything, you need to search bbaker*. With that search I
found 138 messages. Does that sound more like it? You also don't get
the inflated results that Elizabeth correctly noted, because your email
address doesn't show up on the header of the messages before and after
your message.
Keep in mind that our search engine is searching existing law-lib
archives, so there may be some quirks depending upon how the documents
are structured. We tried to filter out as much of the duplicate
information as possible, but there are limitations to what we can do in
that area. But we certainly will try to keep fine-tuning.
The search engine may be a mixed blessing. Remember the 6 month
flame-war involving Jamie Love back in 1996? If you search on Jamie
Love's email address love@tap.org, you find 222 messages. There's a
trip down memory lane for you!

Fascinating. I searched by bbaker - my standard email address name -
and found only 17 entries. Interestingly all were from when I worked at
Howard, and fell in the time frame of 1995 to 1997.
I have a couple of issues with that. First, most of the long-time
listeners of this list know that during that time frame I caused a lot
more ruckus than just 17 posts. I was a listserv hog. I also started
posting on the listserv in 1993, so those should have appeared in the
search, and I believe I've posted once or twice since I moved to my
current employment.
Methinks there are a few bugs in the surfwax still.
