A couple of favorite examples:
Zim v. Western Publishing Co., 573 F.2d 1318 (5th Cir. 1978) The opinion
begins, "In the beginning, Zim created the concept of the Golden Guides. For
the earth was dark and ignorance filled the void. And Zim said, let there be
enlightenment and there was enlightenment. In the Golden Guides, Zim created
the heavens (STARS) (SKY OBSERVER'S GUIDE) and the earth. (MINERALS) (ROCKS
and MINERALS) (GEOLOGY)...."
U. S. ex rel. Mayo v. Satan and his Staff, 54 F.R.D. 282 (W.D.Pa. 1971)
(subtle tongue-in-cheek humor throughout).

Subject: Re: Rhyming & Punny Judicial Decisions
Rich,
I remember from an Antitrust class I took in law school, reading a Judge
Alex
Kozinski case that was pretty clever. The case was U.S. v. Syufy
Enterprises,
903 F.2d 659 (9th Cir. 1990) and it dealt with antitrust in the movie
theater
industry in Vegas. In the opinion, Judge Kozinski peppered it with
references to
movie titles. I was able to find a good number of movie titles; "Little Big
Man", "The Producers", "Giant", "Big", "Upstream", "Foul Play", "Best
Friends",
"Time After Time", "Against All Odds", "Trading Places", "Major League",
etc..
Mind you, this was before the glut of James Grisham movies with vaguely
legalistic sounding titles.
