The Pritzker Legal Research Center of Northwestern University School of Law
solicits applications from dynamic and innovative librarians with
significant academic law library experience for the position of Associate
Director for Research and Instructional Services.

The Research and Instructional Services department is one of four library
teams (the others are Access Services, Bibliographic Services, and
Technology Services) and consists of five research librarians (including
the Associate Director) and 1.5 FTE non-exempt support staff. The
department is responsible for faculty and student research support,
including reference services; faculty and journal liaison programs; the
Pritzker Faculty Research Fellow program; library exhibits and
publications; collection development; and formal and informal instructional
programs.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Associate Director for Research and Instructional
Services is responsible for providing leadership as well as facilitating
and participating in all aspects of the Library's research and
instructional services, including developing service initiatives, teaching
advanced legal research courses, providing reference service, and
performing departmental administrative tasks. Serves as a member of the
Library Management Committee and the Law School Senior Staff. May serve on
University Library committees.

Within the next one to two years the Library will undertake a major
renovation that will include the reconfiguration of library space. The
Associate Director will play an important role in identifying service
issues related to the renovation.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: M.L.S (ALA-accredited) and J.D. (ABA-accredited)
and significant public services experience in an academic law
library. Require supervisory experience, preferably to include
coordinating the activities of experienced librarians. Require successful
teaching experience. Must have excellent knowledge of print and electronic
research resources and be committed to developing innovative and responsive
faculty and student services in a dynamic environment. Must have excellent
interpersonal, communication, collaborative, and organizational skills and
be able to work well in a team and service-oriented environment.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Broad-based familiarity with technology in
libraries.

SALARY: Competitive, commensurate with qualifications and
experience. This is a full-time, continuing appointment.

STARTING DATE: Position is available immediately.

ENVIRONMENT: Located in the heart of the Gold Coast on the University's
Chicago campus, the Pritzker Legal Research Center supports the research
and instructional needs of more than 85 faculty, 625 J.D. students, and 75
graduate students with a collection of more than 630,000 volumes and
equivalents and subscriptions to a wide array of electronic information
