The Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Evidence have
undergone extensive changes effective December 1, 2000.
Although other major publishers will not have the revised rules available until May 2001, the fully updated Federal Rules of Civil Procedure and Federal Rules of Evidence (plus select provisions of Title 28) are now available in our 2001 Federal Civil Rules Booklet. Moreover, the Booklet is about half the price of other publications. (Prices range from $15 to $7.50 each, depending on quantity ordered.)
The amendments to the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure affect Rules 5, 12, 14, 26, 30 and 37. The most important of these changes affect discovery -- automatic disclosures, discovery scope and limitations, deposition practice, and sanctions for failure to disclose.
The amendments to the Federal Rules of Evidence affect Rules 103, 404, 701, 702, 703, 803(6) and 902. Most important among these are limits on the use of lay and expert witnesses and authentication of documents.
