Yes, the RENEWAL tactic is still around. My firm received a complimentary
trial of Mealey's emerging Toxic Torts newsletter which arrived unsolicited.
When their "trial" was over, we were sent SEVERAL renewal notices for the
item. Luckily I caught the scam and prevented anyone from paying the bill.

Of course the old review copy trick is almost as much fun as the
complimentary issue one. You know, the one where you get a free issue of
some publication (usually the newsletter type) and then you get a 'renewal
notice' on the title. Do they still use that one anymore. Or am I just
lucky. Cause I haven't seen it in a while.
