                        SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS

SITE OF THE ALAMO AND THE

           SPRING DEPOSITORY LIBRARY COUNCIL MEETING

                                         APRIL 1 - 4, 2001

The Alamo, Spanish Colonial Missions, Cowboy Museum, Market Square and the
world famous River Walk are all in San Antonio, Texas. With all of that
elegance and history, we decided that San Antonio would be an excellent
host for the spring Depository Library Council meeting. Therefore, on April
1 through April 4, 2001, the Council meeting will convene at the Adam's
Mark San Antonio Riverwalk Hotel, 111 Pecan Street East, San Antonio, Texas
78205. The meeting was originally scheduled for the Four Points Hotel
Riverwalk North, but due to a very large group coming in, we agreed to
relocate our meeting to insure the comfort of our attendees. If you have
made reservations at the Four Points, they will be transferred to the Adam's
Mark. You may contact them at 210-354-2800 (next week) if you feel the need
to verify that space is being held for you. We apologize for the delay in
notifying you and advertising the meeting, but we wanted all aspects of the
relocation worked out before we announced the change. We are sure you will
enjoy the new host hotel and we look forward to seeing you there.

The Adam's Mark San Antonio Riverwalk, for two years in a row, has won the
AAA 4-Diamond Award and the initial Stars of the South award for excellence
in quality of meeting space, guestrooms, staff service, food and beverage,
amenities, ambiance and value. Therefore, we believe the change will
provide superb facilities for our meeting and a rewarding meeting experience
for you.

If you attended the 2000 Federal Depository Conference and fall Council
meeting in Rosslyn, you discovered that the sessions provided are
educational events. If you didn't attend, you really need to include this
meeting on your calendar. Otherwise, you will miss the opportunity to keep
up-to-date with the Federal Depository Library Program (FDLP) activities,
provide your input into the planning process and to exchange ideas among
your colleagues. It doesn't matter if you are a beginning depository
librarian, technician or experienced staff, everyone will benefit from
attending.

San Antonio offers visitors history, romance, sports, family fun, adventure
and the arts. What's your choice, Spanish missions, museums, theme parks,
art galleries, antique shops, historic districts, botanical gardens, golf
courses, horse racing, water parks or shopping in a Mexican market? After
exploring your favorite, you will probably be hungry. Well, enjoy some
luscious Tex-Mex, chic southwestern nouvelle or Texas barbecue with an
attitude.

When you wake up to the aroma of huevos rancheros in the air, the sound of
mariachis filling the streets and the sight of barges winding down the San
Antonio River, you will know you're in someplace special. Even Will Rogers
called San Antonio one of America's four unique cities.

In April, the temperature average high is 80 degrees with an average low of
58 degrees. Take a break from the winter's cold and enjoy some really
spring weather in Alamo City. Just picture yourself (after the meeting of
course), strolling down the cobblestone and flagstone paths of the Paseo del
Rio (River Walk) as music waves through the breezes. Browse the nightclubs
and drink in the sounds of reggae, rhythm and blues, and dixieland. Savor
the peaceful jade-green historic river while you indulge your senses with
the tantalizing aromas from sidewalk cafes and dinner boats. Cherish the
beauty of the towering cypresses, oaks and willows and the gardens of
flowering ornamental plants that border the banks. Marvel at the enticing
little shops that beckon for your business. All in all, you will feel like
you are in another world.

Then, there is the Alamo, where in 1836, 189 defenders held this old mission
against some 4,000 Mexican troops for 13 days; Fort Sam Houston, where
military greats like Pershing, Stilwell, Krueger and Eisenhower all served;
the Spanish Governor's Palace, where you will feel like you've gone back in
time to Spanish Colonial Texas; the Cowboy Museum with it comprehensive
collection of Old West artifacts in a western town replica setting; Market
Square, with two square blocks of plazas and restored buildings all
patterned after a Mexican mercado where you can pick up all the souvenirs
you can carry; the San Antonio Museum of Art which is the home to the new
Rockefeller Center of Latin American Art and has a large collection of
pre-Columbian Native American art; and the Spanish Mediterranean-style
Marion Koogler McNay Art Museum that displays a fine collection of French
post-Impressionist and early 20th-century European paintings. These are
only a few of the many attractions you will discover in San Antonio.

Do you want to shop? Check out the River Center Mall that offers shoppers
an array of 200 stores and sensational cafes with great atmospheres and
marvelous architecture. Market Square is authentically Mexico and offers
you the delightful experience of bargain hunting. You can purchase
authentic crafts such as leather goods, paper-mache, blankets, apparel,
pottery, jewelry and an assortment of other interesting regional products.

Our host hotel, the Adam's Mark San Antonio Riverwalk, opened in 1997 and
features 410 deluxe guest rooms, a live entertainment lounge, a sports bar
and a fine-dining restaurant. You can dine in the Restaurante Marbella that
is known for its award-winning Mediterranean and American Southwestern
cuisine or enjoy the Players Sports Bar with large screen TVs, great beers
and a deli menu. The Tiffany Rose Lounge is an intimate lobby lounge
featuring live entertainment. In-room amenities include coffee makers,
remote control TV, in-room movies, two phones per guest room including one
with a data port, large working desk, iron and board , AM/FM clock radio,
voice mail, ESPN, CNN, Headline News on the cable system, 24-hour room
service, hair dryer and more. The hotel also offers same day dry cleaning
