AALL Research Grant Program

From: Butterfield, Kevin (butterfi@law.uiuc.edu)
Date: Thu Feb 08 2001 - 15:05:09 PST

As a follow-up to last week's press release from AALL,
the AALL Research Committee has extended the deadline
for submitting applications for grants from the AALL
Research Fund established by LEXIS NEXIS through
May 18, 2001. One or more grants, ranging from $1,500
to $10,000, will be awarded in 2001.

The grants fund projects of value to those who create,
disseminate or use legal and law-related information.
Projects may range from the historical (indexes,
legislative histories, bibliographies, biographies,
directories) to the theoretical (trends in cataloging,
publishing, or new service models in libraries) to
the practical (implementation models for collection,
personnel or infrastructure management). The revised
AALL Research Agenda is one source for project ideas.
It is available at
http://www.aallnet.org/committee/research/agenda.asp

Grants may be used to assist in small or large research
projects; all applications will be considered. Funding
research assistants, photocopying, data entry, and research
related travel are possible uses for these grants. They
not only exist to promote research within our profession,
but also to remove obstacles to project completion caused
by tight operating budgets.

The submission deadline for this application period has
been extended to May 18, 2001. Grants will be awarded and
announced by June 30, 2001.

The grant application and guidelines are available
at http://www.aallnet.org/about/research_fund.asp

Please contact me or any member of the committee with
