Is there an online source for historical information on foreign-flagged
vessels? We would like to verify the country under which a particular
vessel was flagged on a particular date. I've checked Lexis, Westlaw, and
various forays into the web-via-Google. The U.S. Census bureau has posted
a list called "Flagged Vessel Country Codes," which includes our vessel,
but the page was last updated in 1997. Back to the print world: I have
discovered that "Lloyd's Shipping Index" has been published daily since
1990 and it promises to contain the information we seek, so I have someone
retrieving that data from the Library of Congress, BUT - I wonder if anyone
more familiar with maritime law would be able to point me to a more
accessible resource. Thanks for your help!
