As more things are becoming available online (databases, CD-ROM, Internet)
and people are getting savvier at searching and finding things like
opinions, statutes, and regs on their own, our reference staff are getting
more challenging requests that require more time to answer. We are also
trying to identify new reference services we can offer--things that our
users aren't able or don't have time to do for themselves. And, we're
considering charging for these services. Examples might include compiling
federal and state legislative histories; cite-checking briefs for good law
and proper citation formats; evaluating legal collections; state-by-state
surveys of a particular law.
We'd like to know what other libraries are doing in the way of specialized
reference services, and, if you charge for them, how and how much. I would
very much appreciate your answers to the questions below. Post to the list

Some background: Wisconsin State Law Library is an agency of the Supreme
Court of Wisconsin, and by statute serves the courts, government employees,
attorneys and the public.
