Job Announcement
Reference Librarian, Harvard Law School Library, Cambridge, MA
Harvard Law School Library seeks an experienced and enthusiastic librarian
to provide high quality reference service in Anglo-American law to the Law
School's faculty, students, and staff. The Anglo-American Reference
Department consists of 7 librarians and 1.5 FTE reference assistants. The
successful candidate will participate in regular reference desk duties
(including week-end shifts on a rotational basis), the faculty liaison
program, and the development and implementation of the library's extensive
instructional program. The library's instructional program includes first
year legal research, summer associate research classes, specialized
subject-oriented seminars, and basic and advanced computer assisted legal
research classes. In addition this individual will supervise ten law
student assistants who supplement the department's work by providing
additional support to student patrons in database and computer questions.
Salary and benefits: Highly competitive.

Required qualifications: JD and MLS from ABA/ALA accredited schools;
substantial professional experience preferably in an academic law library;
effective communication and problem-solving skills; flexibility and strong
service orientation; extensive database and Internet searching expertise;
ability to work in a demanding environment.
