Take another look at that December 2000 notice of consolidated billings for Lexis Publishing-acquired companies and you'll see near the bottom a provision imposing late fees on untimely payments as of February 1, 2001. Around here, late payments are not generally the fault of the library, and I have restisted paying these in the past. If the new Lexis policy goes unchallenged by libraraies, other vendors are sure to quickly follow, making our working lives much more complicated, annoying and expensive.
Any good ideas or strategies that have worked for others in the past would make for interesting reading for the whole list.
