BNA Conundrum-- Employee Benefits Law 2nd

What happens when the production of a book is sooo slow that by the time it
is issued it requires a supplement to be issued simultaneously? Just such a
scenario happened recently with BNA's Employee Benefits Law 2nd edition,
which was issued with a simultaneously issued 2000 Supplement.

How do you square that with BNA's stated catalog policy that: "Any
supplement published within three months of your purchase will be sent to
you free of charge?" Needless to say the supplement appears on the invoice
as a $95.00 charge. BNA's explanation is that since we had a standing
order, that allows them to charge us for both. But if we now purchase the
second edition totally new, the supplement is free. Too bad we stamped the
books. I would send them back and reorder them new and save $95.00.

Sigh. Just another quirk in the law book biz. Oh, by the way, the new
edition of this book (copyright 2000 and received 1-2-2001) is updated
through 1996, which is why it needs a supplement that takes coverage:
"Current through 1998 (with additional coverage in 1999)." Maybe this is a
book to be avoided. At a total cost of $709.59, I am sure you could find
comparable coverage at a lower price.
