This comment was from Carol Billings when she realized the December issue of
AALL Spectrum contained:
--a PDC Desktop Learning article (Digital Preservation Strategies)on an
issue she is working on at this very moment
--the Annual Meeting and Conference Program Announcement for 2001: New
Realities, New Roles with TWO programs related to a project for her library
--a cover photo of AALL President Bob Oakley
(And she didn't even mention the AALL Strategic Plan insert and Candidate
Biographies for the AALL Board Elections.)
The Program Announcement for Minneapolis provides a description of all
programs accepted for the 2001 meeting. You'll see a wide variety of program
topics which reflect the broad interests of our members. Programs are
arranged in 5 tracks for ease of reference: Agents of Change;
Globalization;Partnership;Practitioner's Toolkit; and Reinventing Law
Librarianship. Bob Oakley speaks to some of these theme ideas in his letter
in Spectrum, but members of the Annual Meeting Program Committee will be
discussing these tracks in depth in Spectrum articles each month leading to
July. Cindy Spohr will be elaborating on Agents of Change in the February
issue.
Your colleagues, many professional partners and dozens of speakers are
working hard to make 76 programs interesting, useful, and timely to AALL
members. I hope you will study the Program Announcement, watch for future
Spectrum articles and listserv announcements, and make your plans to
investigate New Realities, New Roles in Minneapolis....in a few short
months!
