I have some questions for anyone who works in a firm where the research services of the library staff are marketed to clients, and where library staff members work directly with clients.
How are your services billed? Hourly or by retainer? If by retainer, do you bill separately for online searches and other services which are fee based? Has it been an effective source of revenue for your firm? What has been the downside of working with clients? Do clients contact library staff directly, or through attorneys? Do you let attorneys know any time you receive a request from a client? Which takes precedence - requests from clients or attorneys? Are your services used frequently by clients? Would you do it again? If there is interest, I will summarize for the list. Thanks.
