I do hope that no-one will mind this very small "off-topic" item - but I am
very proud indeed. Tomorrow morning my mother, aged a mere very young 93
years and 8 months, is to be presented with the Medal Of The Order Of
Australia, in recognition of her "Service to the promotion of international
human rights, through the Urgent Actions Network Of The Victorian Branch Of
Amnesty International". She has been the Co-Ordinator of that Network for
many years, and a voluntary worker for Amnest International for over 20
years, since retiring from teaching at age 70. The award was announced in
this year's Queen's Birthday Honours List. (For details about the Order Of
