ASSOCIATE LIBRARY DIRECTOR
PACE UNIVERSITY SCHOOL OF LAW LIBRARY
The Pace University School of Law Library seeks a highly motivated
individual to serve as its Associate Library Director. The Associate
Director reports directly to the Library Director.
Duties:
1. Under the supervision of the Library Director, manages day-to-day
operations of the Pace Law Library.
2. Manages services offered to faculty and students.
3. Assists in the development and interpretation of library policies
and rules.
4. Assists Director with budgeting.
5. Teaches legal research skills.
6. Assists with collection development.
7. Work with the Head of Reference Services in supervising the
preparation of bibliographies, user guides, and other documentation.
8. Participates in World Wide Web publishing.
9. Provides reference service to members of the Pace Community.
10. Assists Director with personnel matters.
11. Prepares statistical reports.
Qualifications
Required:
1. M.L.S. from A.L.A.-accredited school.
2. J.D. from A.B.A.-accredited school.
3. Substantial law library administrative experience.
Strongly Preferred:
1. Proficiency in searching online databases.
2. Experience in legal research instruction.
3. Strong managerial and organizational skills.
4. Good communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Flexibility and ability to work as part of a team.
Environment:
Pace Law School occupies a lovely campus in suburban White Plains, New York,
about half an hour from Manhattan by train. White Plains is the county
seat of Westchester County and the center of the local legal community. Our
environmental law program has a national reputation, and we have strong
programs in health law and international law. We host Web sites making
available decisions of the Court of Appeals for the Second Circuit, and
materials on the United Nations Convention on Contracts for the
International Sale of Goods. Pace also produces the Virtual Environmental
Law Library.
The Law Library staff includes eight full-time librarians, three part-time
librarians, ten full-time paraprofessionals, two part-time
paraprofessionals, and a number of student assistants. We serve forty
full-time faculty members and approximately 700 students in the day and
evening divisions. We also serve the larger Pace University Community,
including Pace graduates, many of whom stay in the area after graduating
from law school. Pace Law Library is a United States Government Depository
Library and currently selects approximately 16% of materials offered through
the Depository Program.
