'Generic' Library email requests

We have a generic email address that firm personnel use to send research and
other requests to the Library. We had the same set up at my prior firm and
one person monitored it and assigned the work around to the group, however,
due to space issues and volume of requests it's not that easy here. We are
also looking at setting up a 'drop requests off' box in the library itself.
I know a number of you are working with one of both these set ups and would
be very interested in hearing the pros/cons and concerns.

Specifically: issue of balancing work load
assigning or voluntary pick up of work
                   tracking status of requests
Do email requests get added to the drop off box
Do you rotate email monitoring & assignment

If there's interest, I'll summarize for the list. Please reply to me at:

Thanks very much!
